This is going to sound a little bit silly: When I planted Lauchlan my lime tree, I did it just before leaving the country because I was sure that I'd somehow manage to kill the poor tree. I don't have a green thumb, and I'm not an especially coordinated person. The idea was that if I planted it + left, then I wouldn't have to see it die. Well, last week my Dad sent me photos of Lauchlan, and sure enough, it hadn't died. In fact, in the 6 months or so since I planted him, he's grown! I probably shouldn't be surprised by this.

It's entirely possible that my leaving the country has helped Lauchlan grow, because from over here I can't do anything harmful it. But I can be excited from over here. I hoping that on my next trip home it'll be lime season. Fingers crossed, right?
