I won't lie, the bar has me spoilt. I don't pay for drinks anymore, and having a bartender that likes to make cocktails? Having bartender friends who name drinks after you? Goodness. It means that you don't drink beer anymore. It means you don't drink wine, unless you're having a quiet night. Mostly, it means that you rock up to the bar and ask for 'something sweet, something tasty' and it comes in fancy glass and people go 'Ooooo, what is that?' I don't know what it is, I ask for sweet and tasty somethings far too often for there to be names for all of them. But oh goodness, they are sweet, and boy are they tasty.
Cocktails are my thing. Which takes me back to the spoilt part, because cocktails anywhere else? They are EXPENSIVE. Which means that I always end up drinking at the bar, and indulging probably alot more than I would if I had to actually pay $20 for a drink.
If I'm not having a big night, I'd usually drink wine. White, as I'm not especially a fan of the red. But that's about as far as my experience with wine goes. I generally rely on the bar staff to provide something thats nice, and I have a few friends that are quite knowledgeable wine drinkers. They have no problem picking out wines that are tasty enough to drink. *shrug*
When I was last at the Wine Loft (a super cute bar downtown), my friend got me a delightful glass of Johanneshof Cellars Gewurztraminer. I love drinking with him, you ask for a drink by colour and he delivers. This particular wine apparently tastes 'purple' to him. It's a gorgeous wine, and went down super easy. I guess lately, that would be my #winetoreach for.
What's your #winetoreach for? Is there something I should try that I haven't yet?
