I'm not such a huge fan of movies. I watch them like everyone else does, and I have a few DVD's here and there. I'm a fan of most of Hayao Miyazaki's stuff (My Neighbour Tontoro + Howls Moving Castle especially). I saw Inception, which I thought was good. I also recently saw Memento for the first time the other day. I think its the kind of movie that you need to see a few times. Movie lines are more often than not lost on me. I'm not much of a movie person.
I am a reader, though. I'm a mad reader. Like, crazy mad. I dive into books and devour them. My Dad's friend borrowed one of my books, and said that it looked like it hadn't been read. My Dad laughed, and said that it was because I ripped through it so quick, I wasn't reading it long enough to crease the spine. I'm also the kind of person that will see a book someone else is reading and pick it up. It bothers Sibling that I do this with her books, because it means that I'll finish well before she will.
And it's a bit like that, really. I'm always reading something. Right now I'm reading (for what must be the 5th or 6th time) the Third Book in Peter F. Hamiltons Reality Dysfunction Series. Other books that I've read lately? Eat Love Pray (I totally loved the Italy section!), The Last Two Seats (which was about the History of the Contiki Tours, which was started by a Kiwi guy. Now I want to go on a Contiki Tour!), The Time Travellers Wife (made me cry a silly amount, and the movie did it justice, I thought). The Dark Materials Series by Philip Pullman (which was brilliant. It is everytime I read it). The Pillars of the Earth + Sequel by Ken Follett (less good, easy to read but with a plot that just goes back and forth). I read the Ellie Chronicles because Tomorrow When The War came out, and I wanted to read them before I saw the movie.
And oh! TV! I don't watch TV on the television. I download all my tv. And thanks to friends that have media servers at work, I have access to a stupid amount of TV. What I'm watching at the moment: Burn Notice, Men in Trees, Dexter (Season 1, so no spoilers, yeah?), Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Castle, The Big Bang Theory. Bones (Season 1. I'm annoyingly missing episodes 5-9, gah!)
Shows that I love and adore? Firefly. Life. Pushing Daises. Dollhouse. Black Books. Buffy + Angel. Top Gear. Fringe. House. Band of Brothers. The L Word. True Blood. Prison Break. Breaking Bad. Friends. The Big Bang Theory.
Shows that I kind of half like, but don't adore so much: Glee. NCIS. Gossip Girl. Flash Forward. Sex + The City. Scrubs. Moonlight. Mad Men (yet, I only saw a few episodes).
And then you get all the reality tv shows that kind of suck you in and you can't stop watching: Master Chef. Americas Next Top Model. Hells Kitchen. Man vs Food. Extreme Home Makeover. Myth Busters. Project Runway. LA Ink.
Okay, that's an awful lot of tv that I pulled out from the top of my head. Are you watching anything that's amazing that I should pick up?
