So, there have been a few ’30 days’ Memes going around. Kate did 30 Days of Me. Eleni Zoe is doing the 30 days of Truth, and Jennifer is doing a 30 Days Meme without a name. Add that to the Veda (Video Blog Every Day in August) that I missed, and well, there are a few going around at the moment.

I won’t lie, I’m going to get on the bandwagon. I hear that November is National Blog National Blog Posting Month (though, what nation, I’m not sure) so that works for me. I’m probably going to be a bit MIA this month, as things gear up for Operation: Leave The Country. Also I’m getting my wisdoms out. And I have a crazy amount of socialising and beach visiting to do. So, in the mean time, you get 30 Days of Blog Filler. Awesome. I’ve taken bits and bobs from everyone elses lists, because it was just easier that way. :)

The Schedule:

Day 4 – What you ate today
Day 5 – Tech: fave website + gadgets
Day 6 – Day In The Life

Day 20 – Something you hope to do in your life + something you hope you never have to do.
Day 21 – Road Trips
Day 22 – How goes today?
Day 23 – Pets
Day 24 – Who Inspires You on the Internet
Day 25 – The first ten songs that play on your iPod on shuffle
Day 26 – Movies/TV/Books

I’ll still be around a little, though. Mostly on twitter. Normal posts will resume from December, till then, see you on the flip side?

It took me absolutely forever, but I’ve done it. I’ve finally joined the ranks of those able to drive during the hours of 10pm – 6am, and to take passengers.

Truthfully, though, it never stopped me before, and I never once got a ticket for it. Still, I’m stoked, check it! License Class Held: 1F!

In a slightly amusing side story, a few months ago I was playing Sober Driver to The Second + Fourth Quarters and the brilliant Lucas. I got pulled over as you do when you’re coming from town with a bucketload of people in your car at 4 in the morning (Sidenote: as The Second Quarter was sitting in the passenger side with his full license, I was allowed to drive with passengers). Anyway, I wasn’t speeding, and I wasn’t sure why the policeman had pulled me over. I asked if it was because I was ‘wobbly’. It wasn’t, it was just so I could do a breath test to make sure I was sober enough to drive.

Well, The Second Quarter mocked me the whole drive home after that. BUT! When I took the driving test for my full, the License Lady told me that it was likely that no one had ever told me this before, but that I drove a little ‘wobbly’. She used that EXACT WORD! Ever since I’ve been trying to drive a little less wobbly.

Anyway. Number 37 on The List: Get my Full License. Done. Woo, yeah!

Hey all,

Due to some minor drama that I didn’t handle especially well (the kind where something minor but unexpected happens and because you’re sleep deprived and a little bit emotional you panic + overreact and do something really stupid like delete your feedburner feed) Rarg has a new RSS feed address. You’ll need to add http://feeds.feedburner.com/rarg to your readers.

Apologies for the inconvenience! I was having a moment. We all have moments sometimes.

Best,

Elly x

A few weeks ago, I planted a tree. The Fourth Quarter and I went out to a Palmers Garden World and I brought me a tree. A lime tree. I named him Lauchlan.

And then I planted him in the ground:

A while ago I came across a cute little display of Vintage-style Soda by Boylan Bottling. Super cute glass bottles came in packs of four with a way cute old school carrier carton. I won’t lie, I brought four and guzzled them almost as soon as I could. They were brilliant, I was blown away.

A super cute little product, I think. I love things that have great style AND are super tasty. Win!

It’s a bit like a ramshackle court. The same people are there every week. There are strangers there every week, too. Sometimes theres a crowd, sometimes there isn’t. I greet the familiar faces with a smile, and sit down with a wine to listen.

I watch the regulars at first, snapping their fingers to an exceptionally wonderful beat, cheering after the bass solo (the first we’d heard, despite all the weeks we’d been coming), clapping as the players on stage switch out, sharing the lime light, sharing the centre stage. Tit for tat, solos back and forth. They listen intently, toes tapping, watching the players play. They notice the interactions, the musical in jokes, the missed beats. They smile along with the leading man, cheer at the solos, and raise their glasses in appreciation.

The strangers, well, the strangers don’t really care. They come for the atmosphere the rest of us create. They come to drink and laugh amongst themselves. Closed little worlds sitting around a table. Sorry, we’re sitting here. Find your own table.

Still, I greet the people I know as they come in. Old friends who are here to see me, here to see the players play, here to enjoy the night. We catch up, whispering in hushed tones into each others ears. About the past. About the present. About babies and marriages with one. About busy weeks with another. One friend quietly slips his bands cd at my elbow, and disappears for bit, giving me time to finish my converastion with someone else. I’ll find him later to hug him and say thankyou. But I love that its like this. That there are so many to touch base with, to converse with. That so many want to make sure I’m okay.

And oh, nights like these, they bring me comfort. Having my friends around (even if they prefer angry birds to jazz listening) to keep me company. Drinking pretty coloured drinks with names I don’t know. Listening to beats that make my toes tap, knowing that even as I listen there is alot more going on than I understand. That a boy with a shaggy hair cut and blue plaid shirt will come and put is arm around me, ask about my week and grin sheepishly when I thank him for his cd. That a boy with a beard will clarify things I don’t understand, will mock openly where I am afraid to, and will tell me the truth, even I don’t want to hear it. That a boy with no beard will sit and play smart phone games with me. Will help me discover new alchemy combinations. Will keep me company because I asked him to.

I love these nights. Nights that show how valuable the company I keep is. And now I’m all too aware that my Thursday nights can’t and won’t always be like this. But I’m glad that in the here and now, they so very much are.

It’s official. I’ve handed in my notice. I’ve got tickets. I’ve got Visas. I even have Job Interviews and plans to meet people who live in other hemispheres. I’m ridiculously excited about this. It actually blows my mind.

Blogosphere, I’m moving to London.

I’m not going straight to London though, I’m going by a few places, to see a few brilliant people, see a few sights, knock a few other things off the list. Here’s the plan:

Vancouver
Toronto
Rome
London

So blogosphere, tell me. While I’m in these amazing places, what should I do? What should I see? Are any of you in these cities and keen to meet up for some adventuring?
