In L.A. it barely gets cold at all during December and it certainly doesn't snow, so we have certain compensatory rituals. Shopping malls have fake snow that kids can play in, houses decorate their outside with projected lights that make it look like it's snowing, and we spray that ultra-toxic white goop on things to make things look "seasonal." Do you guys do similar things there or is there not as strong of an association between snow and Christmas in NZ? P.S. Yay! Dog in hat!
